Blue Ridge CRAFT invites all High Country Farm Apprentices & Aspiring Farmers to a dinner gathering, so that CRAFT can learn more about how it can support your farm educational experiences.
What Will Happen at the Gathering:
1.) We will share a meal, provided by CRAFT.
2.) CRAFT will share information about its Apprenticeship Posting webpage and Summer Workshop & Potluck Series
3.) CRAFT will ask participants to share their experiences about this year's growing season; their experiences as Apprentices or Aspiring Farmers; and, how CRAFT can support those two efforts.
When: Thursday, November 5th at 6 pm.
Dinner will be provided.
The location will be at Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture's Office: 171 Grand Blvd. Boone, Lower Level.
CRAFT cultivates meaningful mentor relationships between aspiring and experienced farmers. We believe that the educational and professional development of tomorrow’s growers and producers informs the health of our diverse local-food system and rural economy.

This Workshop will be led by Shiloh Avery and Jason Roehrig of Tumbling Shoals, who will lead participants on a tour of their farm as they share about their operation, post-harvest handling, and marketing local food. A potluck dinner will follow at 6:30 PM.

By late July, many High Country fruit and vegetable crops are approaching maturity or yielding harvests. But diseases, insects, and weeds are also on the march. On Sunday, July 26, 2015 at 4:30 PM join NC Cooperative Extension Agent Richard Boylan, FIG farmer Caroline Hampton, and ASU SD Instructor Eli Snyder for a CRAFT workshop on crops and scouting for weed, disease, and insect pressures. Threshold levels for taking action on farms and organic options for control will be discussed in this interactive workshop. A potluck dinner will follow at 6:30 PM.
