Book Release l Blowing Rock Art and History Museum l May 17 l 4 PM - 6 PM
Join Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture in celebrating the publishing of the BRWIA Resource Handbook at the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum on Sunday, May 17 from four to six in the evening. Over the past year BRWIA has been collecting stories, photographs, and advice from thirteen exemplary farmers in the High Country region to create a printed handbook and resource webpage. During this afternoon event be the first to see the book, meet the farmers involved, and view their photographs. An old-time duo will provide old time music and you are welcome to view the BRAHM galleries throughout the event. Locally crafted refreshments and wine will be available.
Finally! Answers to all your questions about taxes and labor regulations for your farm or food business. From CPA Christina Wagoner, participants will learn about the agricultural tax return, how to do a chart of accounts, and needed adjustments. After a provided lunch, the workshop will cover benefits and ways to hire labor and compliance with labor law. This will include what is legal with regards to stipends, unemployment tax, workmen’s compensation, and much more!
Workshop is sponsored by Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture, Farm Service Agency, Heifer USA, High Country Workforce Development Board, and Watauga Co. Cooperative Extension.
